Spring Freedom Study
Join Reclaim RI this spring for our second Freedom Study! We will be reading long-time grassroots organizer Jonathan Smucker's Hegemony How-To: A Roadmap for Radicals from February-June. This book is a practical guide to political struggle for a generation that is deeply ambivalent about questions of power, leadership, and strategy. Hopeful about the potential of today’s burgeoning movements, Smucker provides deep theoretical insight into the familiar pitfalls of organizing, and offers tools to bridge the divide between anti-authoritarian values and hegemonic strategies.
We're excited to dive into this book to learn how to grow power in Rhode Island.The group will meet on the last Thursday of every month, at 5:30 PM. The reading schedule is as follows:
Feb 25: Chap 1
Mar 25: Chap 2 + 3
Apr 29: Chap 4 + 5
May 27: Chap 6+ 7
Jun 24: Chap 8 + conclusion-- with a visit from the author!
